Approx. 5,000 office lockers with future-proof multifunctional electronic locker management system

The challenge

This open office environment accommodates all kinds of activities within the organisation. As employees do not have their own workstations here, Axel Springer was looking for an automated total solution for storing employees' personal belongings. The lockers would be located across the entire campus and should provide flexible storage options close to workstations. They should also contribute to a peaceful working environment. The innovative storage solution should be easily and autonomously used by employees and for all kinds of use cases. 

The solution

Quispel has equipped around 5,000 electronic smart lockers with a user-friendly, multifunctional electronic locking system. 

Dynamic multifunctional storage solution

Lockers can be dynamically assigned and released via a multifunctional locker management system. An authorised user can claim a locker throughout the building at his/her location. He/she can scan a campus card at an integrated card reader or claim a locker via the convenient MyLocker app. Project groups can share a locker together. Even guests can very easily claim a locker via the central terminal and release it again at the end of use, all without the intervention of the manager. 

The IT-Box is used as an extension of the IT service desk. This locker unit is used to issue IT equipment to employees. As soon as something is ready for pick-up, the applicant is notified via e-mail or the Mylocker app. Using the PIN or QR code sent, the applicant can pick up the requested item.

Using the central locker management system, facility staff can monitor and manage the system and locker usage in real time from any location. User data as well as software and firmware are hosted in the Cloud and automatically updated. This has minimised management activities.

Mylocker app, very useful!

With the Mylocker app, the user can closely monitor what is happening with his/her locker. The system informs the user via the app about all kinds of things, such as alerts, time remaining for locker use, parcels issued and to be picked up, etc. Of course, a user can also simply claim an available locker or open a locker.
